After stopping by Avery’s house to apply a proper, more permanent fix to the pipe beneath the kitchen sink, I head in to the brewery. I don’t bother trying to hide the smile that stretches my cheeks. The taste of her pussy lingers on my lips. My brothers think I’m dating Avery, so why not lean into that? With any luck, Avery will decide we don’t need to stage that breakup.

“All the empty fermentation tanks are cleaned,” Tanner announces when I step into the brewhouse.

“Liam get his grain?”

“Yep. He picked it up the other night. That tank is cleaned too.”

“I know.”

“You do?”

“I stopped by to check things out over the weekend.”

“Was that before or after you shacked up with Avery Nichols?” Ben’s smug tone comes from behind. But even the grumpiest man in Caribou Creek can’t wipe the smile from my face. Not today.

“Tanner, why don’t you check on the wort?” I wait for the kid to walk across the brewhouse before I turn to face my brother. “Something I can help you with?”

“You’re an hour late.”

Ben is convinced everyone should be on a strict schedule, including the three of us owners. Never mind that he’s been working from home more and more as of late to avoid being around Josie. I bet he’s only here to harass me about dating a tenant. “I don’t work on a schedule. I told you that the day we signed the papers.”

“What kind of example does that set?”

Ben seems extra pissy today. I’m guessing Kat went back to Anchorage and he didn’t get any. In fact, I don’t think those two have that kind of relationship. That’d explain a lot about my brother’s attitude as of late. Sexual frustration can make a man quite growly. Of course, in my case, it can also make a man giddy with anticipation.

I’ve avoided dating since I moved back to Caribou Creek. Sure, I’ve entertained an occasional out-of-town fling, but even that impulse has faded away. For the first time in years, I yearn to settle down.

With Avery.

A part of me has known since that first day she pulled into the driveway that she was mine. And now, with each day that passes, I’m only more certain of that. Eating her pussy this morning didn’t hurt in reaffirming that conviction. Fuck, I could eat her out every day for the rest of our lives.

With any luck, Avery will hang around a couple more nights and give me the opportunity I need to make this fake relationship a real one.

Ben’s hardened expression pulls me back to the brewery. Forcing me to table my dirty fantasies for later.

“Look, I’m here when I need to be. I check and maintain everything that’s required of me and more. Just because that doesn’t fit neatly into your rigid schedule doesn’t mean I’m slacking. Zac isn’t either.” If Tanner weren’t across the room, I’d really let Ben have it. But I’m not in the mood to start anything with him today.
